Dosing Approach & Treatment Expectation
Strattera is a non-stimulant that works gradually, helping ease your child into treatment. If Strattera works for your child, you should start to see their symptoms improving after 4-6 weeks.
Strattera may be taken with or without food.
Although it is generally agreed that patients with ADHD may require pharmacological treatment for extended periods of time, controlled clinical trials have established efficacy in children and adolescents for 9 weeks and in adults for 10 weeks. Children and adolescents treated for more than 9 weeks and adults treated for more than 10 weeks should be periodically re-evaluated to ensure continued long-term usefulness of the drug for the individual patient.
For those patients with ADHD and hepatic insufficiency (HI), dosage adjustment is recommended as follows: moderate HI, reduce initial and target doses to 50% of normal dose; severe HI, reduce initial and target doses to 25% of normal.
